THE EDIT: THE COACH HOUSE

Curated is about selecting the things most important and inspiring to us and harnessing them. Welcome to The Edit: The Coach House. Our current favourite items carefully selected for our special space.

HAECKLES: BLADDERWRACK AND FENNEL HANDWASH

Haeckels was founded in 2012 by volunteer beach warden and coastal enthusiast Dom Bridges.

Disillusioned by the production ethos of many larger skincare companies Dom wanted to create simple handcrafted products that showcased the surrounding coasts natural ingredients in the hope that the products themselves would then promote Margate’s heritage of healthy coastal living.

When Haeckels was just starting out Dom would collect seaweed and local botanicals along the Margate coast and bring them to bring back to his family kitchen to experiment. The company has now grown; taking on members of staff whilst still playing an active part in the local community by organising beach cleans and taking part in marine conservation surveys.

Bladderwrack and Fennel handwash is a gentle hand wash enhanced with seaweed extracts and fennel to leave skin clean and rejuvenated. Rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, seaweed has been used in skincare for centuries for its moisturising and rejuvenating properties. Bladderwrack + Fennel Hand Wash combines extracts from bladderwrack, harvested from the Margate shore, with uplifting natural fragrance from essential oils.

Fragrance Profile:

Top: Basil, Parsley

Heart: Wild fennel

Base: Herbaceous

LODESTARS ANTHOLOGY MAGAZINE: ITALY

Lodestars Anthology is an independent magazine-meets-journal for curious travellers who long to be inspired, see the world and meet interesting characters along the road. Focusing on one country per issue, Lodestars is a scrapbook of place, a magazine that goes deep into the heart of a location and uncovers its charms, flavours and splendour, taking a truly personal, beautifully crafted and slow approach to the art of travel journalism.

With stunning photography, stories and illustrations - produced in Bristol by a small independent press with an eye for detail and a love for print – Lodestars is a thing of beauty in its own right. You’ll probably want to keep it atop a coffee table, or perhaps you’ll want to fill it with scribblings and notes and stow it away in your travel bag for inspiration whilst on the road.

Bird & Blend Tea Co. is an independent, award-winning tea company. Their fruit teas have been a frim favourite amongst our guests since we opened The Coach House. So we thought it was time we introduced a new flavour!

Blueberry and Peach is described as blueberry bliss twisted with notes of peach!

Psst... this blend is basically like Ribena but with none of the added sugar!

A truly refreshing fruit blend of peach and blueberries, this tea is packed full of flavour, and great to enjoy either hot or cold but we love it cold!

ZARA HAIR: LIGHT HAIR BALM

We have been trialing some of the new ZARA Hair product at The Coach House. An exciting collaboration between icon Guido Palau and highstreet brand Zara.

For anyone who isn’t familiar with Palau, here is a very quick 101: after getting his break working with the Supers (Naomi, Linda, Cindy etc) on the music video for George Michael’s “Freedom 90!”, Palau was tapped by Calvin Klein to create the grunge look of the era-defining campaigns with Kate Moss and David Sims. He worked with Alexander McQueen until his death doing hair for the runway shows from the late 90s – including 2009’s Horn of Plenty collection – and now is one of the busiest hairstylists in fashion, reportedly working on average 30 shows per season including for Prada, Schiaparelli and Dior.

“We wanted to start the story of Zara’s venture into the hair category by introducing six products that can be used to create most styles,” says Palau. “Whether you want to add volume, hold, curl, texture or shine, these products are the pillars of a stylist’s kit.”
